Great here and so easy to access. Our two favorite spots are Lipah and
Jemeluk. You can rent equipment at both places on the beach if you need it, then simply
walk into the water and enjoy the spectacular coral and fish. At Lipah, you can either
park at the reggae bar on the beach or further down at Vienna beach. At Vienna beach
you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas…usually about 100,000 Rp for the day. At
Jemeluk, you can park at Coral Villas. This is just before the bottom of the hill from
Sunset Point. Here you can use their beach chairs and umbrellas for FREE if you buy
some food and drink. The warung here is quite tasty so this is a win-win choice! At both
beaches, you can find locals to take you snorkeling via a jukung (local fishing boat) as
well. If you don’t have your own transportation, we are happy to drive you to the beach
and pick you up.
There are two main areas very close to Harmony. Down the road to
the left is Sunset Point around 2 km drive. This is very popular and can get quite crowded. At the top of the hill on the way to Lipah just 500 m walking distance is Waenis sunset viewpoint. This place is family run by Waeni
and her mom. While this is far less crowded, try to get there by 5:30 to get the best
choice of beanbags! They also have a good happy hour and snacks available.
a way of life here in Bali and there are many options. Feel free to arrange
for a massage in the privacy of your bungalow or by the pool. Please inquire at the front
desk to arrange. You can also get a massage on the beach (Lipah and Jemuluk). As
these tend to be a “no-frills” massage they are usually very inexpensive, but we love
them. These little ladies on the beach can really give a strong massage! If you are looking for a real SPA Treatment with packages we can highly recomend the Spa at Villa ADI directly next to Harmony. Very beautiful and professional place with trained therapists.
Water Gardens/Water Palace/Temples
Tirta Gangga, about 45 minutes away near
Amlapura is a serene and beautiful place to visit. Ujung Water Palace is just south of
Amplapura. This is the sister site to Tirta Gangga. Lempuyang Temple is one of the
oldest temples and one of the six holiest places to worship in Bali. Also known as the
Gateway to Heaven, this place can feel quite magical especially early in the morning.
Please note there are a lot of stairs to climb so be sure to wear good shoes. You cannot
take a bad photo here if you try!
A trek up Mt. Batur is an amazing experience, especially the sunrise hike. A
couple of things to note about this hike: it is not an “easy hike”. Its straight uphill in the
dark for several hours, it can be quite crowded, its cold at the top and there is no
guarantee of seeing a sunrise due to cloud cover. That all being said, we highly
recommend this if you enjoy hiking! Also a great hike leads you into the hills above Tuba, a village closeby or the waterfalls in Bangle village (only in rain season). Please inquire at the front desk to arrange.
When in Bali, everyone should do yoga! There are already several studios in Amed that offer daily classes in different styles and are also beginner friendly. Next to Harmony in Villa Adi is a beautiful Yoga shalla with stunning mountain views and experienced teachers. You could also ask for a private yoga class here at
Harmony or schedule a class with other guests.
Balinese cooking class
Right here in the gardens of Harmony, Anis can give you a
hands-on session and share with you her great understanding of the local spices and
how to layer them. This class is typically half a day and of course you get to eat your
creations! Please ask at the front desk if you are interested.
Should you need any transportation, whether it be a private driver,
scooter or a ticket to the Gilis, the staff here can help arrange any and all of this for you.
Drivers can be used to tour the temples and volcanos, drop-off and pick-up at airports or
other spots in Bali such as Lovina, Ubud, Sanur…etc. Scooters also are a cheap and
easy way to cruise around Amed.
